About

I have been teaching for 18 years, starting as a Junior Lecturer in my 4th year at university.  It was a challenge teaching statistics to older students, but this was where the teaching “bug” started and it hasn’t stopped!  After teaching in South Africa for a few years, I applied for and received a scholarship to do my Masters degree in Statistics in Canada.  After completing my studies, I taught mainly first year statistics at the University of Western Ontario for a year and a half.  Home was calling, so I moved back to South Africa and accepted a lecturing position at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth.

As much as I enjoyed being back home with family and friends, I needed another challenge.  This is where the move to Australia started (2008) and I finally settled in Brisbane in 2014.  My first five years in Australia were spent in Sydney, teaching maths at the UNSW Global Foundation Year.  The move to Brisbane was to set up a tutoring business as part of a franchise group.  It was a massive challenge, a great experience and has taught me a tremendous amount about running a business, but most importantly, what makes a good tutor!

This is where the idea of LB Tuition started.  The challenge lies within providing a great service while remaining small enough so that each student feels valued and special, and every parent is happy with their child’s progress.  Something that is very difficult to provide in a large tuition centre.

LB Tuition is a boutique learning centre, priding itself with a friendly service while providing a great experience for every student and parent.

Recently I’ve also added online tutoring as part of my service, mostly due to covid19 and lockdown in 2020. Many students have found online tutoring to be just as good (and more convenient!) as in person tutoring. Currently my lessons are offered online only until further notice.
